Then you got drunk the night before the game and pulled a muscle - I'm not sure which muscle; probably your hamstring or your groin or something essential like that - while trying to ride a mechanical bull in a vain attempt to prove to everyone that you were some hardcore cowboy-type from Memphis?
That reminds me a little bit of the two part Coach episode except that you really were injured in come stupid college-related happenstance (mechanical bull riding = dumber than a limbo contest?) and were not substituted in the waning moments of the game which we ended up losing by an embarassingly large margin. I'm pretty sure something like that happened.

Maybe Coach and the snake had bad blood because th...

Maybe Coach and the snake had bad blood because they played against each other when they were in college. Maybe opposing quarterbacks or something? No, I'll bet they had just coached against each other before like maybe you heard on the radio in coach's car something like, "Minnesota State hasn't been in a major bowl game since 1982 when the team faced Powerhouse State U and lost a humiliating defeat to Coach Jimmy McCoachelson the infamous night when the snake ate the fox on a trick play in the games final seconds" or whatever it was and maybe Dauber was in the car riding shotgun and had to be all silent because it was a sensitive issue or maybe Dauber was all like "YEAH! WELL WE'LL SHOW EM WON'T WE COACH!!". There might have even been a press conference scene with a reporter asking coach a question like "Coach, how do you plan to face a legendary coach like Coach Jimmy "Snake" McCoachelson considering how handily his Powerhouse State U team defeated you last time the two teams faced each other?" And then Coach probably said that he had something up his sleeve, or payback in mind or something to answer the question but then the reporter might have followed up with something like "But aren't you worried he'll humiliate you again?" or something and then Coach gets all fumed and stuff and the audience goes "oooooooooo!" or something. I wonder if they had some famous real life coach in a cameo play the nemesis coach or if it was a real actor they were hoping to make a recurring character but then didn't for some reason like maybe he wasn't a hateable enough villain or maybe even he was too hateable or something else.
John Rote
Memphis, TN
